Hello everyone, In today’s PBL, the children continued to classify insects and small bugs. Today we learned more about the habitats of insects and sorted them into their natural environments. Additionally, we played a guessing game where the children guess the name of specific insects based upon clues about their characteristics. The children also completed a cut and paste activity in which they sorted caterpillars by length from shortest to longest. This was a continuation from yesterday’s mathematics lesson. In phonics, the children reviewed the recent digraphs they have learned. These included zz, qu, sh, ch, th, ng & ai. The children identified words that contain the digraphs from within a cluster of pictures. In Chinese class, the children learned about the concept of weight, heavy and light. Using a pair of women’s tights as a balance scale, the children identified which one was heavy and which one was light from a number of selected objects. 今天的中文数学课,我们从一杆秤开始来认识重量以及轻重。不过,光看秤杆有点抽象,于是我们请出了更直观的“裁判”——天平。孩子们亲手做了个小实验:先在天平两边各放一只玩具小猴,两个托盘一样高,像在玩跷跷板;接着在一侧又加了一只小猴,嘿,有两只小猴的那边嗖地掉下去了,只剩一只的那边则翘得高高的。大家一下子就明白了—–重的会往下沉,轻的会往上翘,这个秘密可太好玩啦!发现了这个规律,我们马上把天平原理用到了自己身上。用平衡板代替托盘,两个小朋友分别站到两边,谁重谁那边的板子就会沉下去,身体轻一点的就会被“抬”起来。孩子们争着上来体验,笑声不断。最后每个人都领到了一双丝袜,挑两样小东西装进袜筒里,两手一提,就像自制的小天平——哪边沉下去,哪边的物品就更重。看着丝袜一高一低的样子,孩子们笑着喊:“石头重一些\剪刀轻一些”。 就这样,从玩具到身体再到生活小物件,我们一路玩着,一路把“轻重”装进了心里。 Daily Menu Moments

家长朋友们下午好~ 今天艺术课上,孩子们尝试用拓印的方法制作有纹理的纸张,再通过拼贴和添画,感受高矮、疏密的变化,同时锻炼手部小肌肉的控制力。孩子们把印有特殊纹理的正方形纸(把正方形的纸盖在有条纹的硬物上,再用蜡笔来回磨印,纸上就留下了一条条摸得到也看得见的纹路)拼贴成高高低低的大楼房,有的楼直冲云霄,有的楼矮墩墩地挨在旁边,贴在纸上一看,整座城市慢慢热闹起来了。贴完大楼,孩子们又用小黑色方块给房子安上窗户,一块一块认认真真地数着位置。最后拿起蜡笔,在窗户外边添上弯弯绕绕的线条,有的像风,有的像小花,也有的直接把整面墙涂满了自己喜欢的颜色。每一幢房子都带着孩子自己的主意,看上去既整齐又活泼。 今天的中文课上,孩子们和那个古老的成语“刻舟求剑”交上了朋友。我们先讲了那个有点好笑的楚国人的故事:剑掉进水里,他不赶紧捞,反而慢悠悠在船舷上画记号,等船靠岸才下去找——结果当然啥也没有。孩子们一听就笑了:“船都开走了,剑还在原地呀!”为了让他们自己体会这个道理,我们用坦克圈当小船,一个个乘船过江,演了一回“宝剑落水、船上做记号”的戏码。接着又换了个情景:假装从桥上走过,剑掉了,这次在桥上做记号——回头一找,咦,竟然很快就找到了宝剑!因为桥不会动呀。通过这两次对比,不用多解释,孩子们自己就乐呵呵地明白了。故事里我们还认了四个汉字:舟、江、中、刀。一节课下来,又是演又是笑,字也记住了,道理也玩懂了,好有意思! 今天数学课上,我们玩了一个“修桥过河”的游戏。我们一起修了四座宽窄不同的桥,有的宽得可以张开手臂,有的窄得只能伸进一只手。过桥时可热闹了——有人刚踩上一座桥就“扑通”假装掉进河里,逗得孩子们笑得前仰后合,这才发现:太窄的桥只能给小猫走,而宽宽的桥可以两三个好朋友手拉手一起过。孩子们一边笑,一边学会了把两座桥并排放在一起看,或者叠起来比一比,能清楚地指出来哪座是“宽宽的”、哪座是“窄窄的”。最后每个孩子都完成了一张纸上作业:帮小蚂蚁、小猫、小猪和大象各修一座合适的桥。大家认真地把四座桥从窄到宽排好队,再一一贴上对应的小动物,嘴里还念叨着“蚂蚁最窄,大象最宽”。看到所有小动物都安全过了河,孩子们特别有成就感。就这样,在好玩的游戏和动手操作中,孩子们不仅学会了比较宽窄的方法,还能给三个以内的的不同宽窄的物体排序或匹配啦。Hello everyone, In today’s PBL, the children classified insects by their attributes. They examined a number of model insects and categorized them into those than can fly and those that cannot, those that are a specific colour and those that are not and those that have patterns such as stripes and those that don’t. The children consolidated their learning by completing a cut and paste sorting exercise. In phonics, the children learned the diphthong ‘ai.’ The children learned vocabulary containing the diphthong, identified it from within a cluster of others and used the sound of the diphthong to blend unfamiliar words. In STEM class, the children were introduced to their new topic, which also happens to be insects. 家长朋友们下午好~ 今天的音乐课上,我们延续了上周欢乐的纸盘派对。孩子们继续手握两个彩色纸盘,在四拍子的节奏中玩出了新花样。孩子们先用纸盘拍出整齐的“1、2、3、4”,随后又发挥想象,设计出各种有趣的舞蹈动作——有人把纸盘举到头顶变成米奇的大耳朵,有人转动纸盘当起了小司机的方向盘,还有孩子张开双臂让纸盘像蝴蝶的彩色翅膀一样翩翩扇动。教室里一下子“飞”出了孔雀、蝴蝶、小飞机,每个人都跟着老师的口令认真起舞,快乐地转圈、迈步。从上周的整齐队列到这周的自由创编,孩子们不仅稳稳地踩住了四拍子节奏,更用纸盘和身体讲出了一个个充满童趣的故事。 今天的中文课上,我们一起聊起了即将到来的母亲节。孩子们争先恐后地分享自己眼中的妈妈:有长头发妈妈、短头发妈妈,有香香的妈妈、爱笑的妈妈……每一个描述都那么鲜活。说到和妈妈之间的小秘密和趣事,大家更是停不下来——有的说妈妈很爱她,每晚都陪她睡觉;有的说妈妈是捉蚂蚁高手;有的说妈妈会跟他玩躲迷藏;还有的妈妈会带孩子去公园玩,并买冰激凌吃;还有特别会赚钱的妈妈,给孩子买了好多玩具和衣服。听着这些暖暖的故事,仿佛能看到每一位妈妈温柔又可爱的样子。分享完对妈妈的爱,孩子们亲手为妈妈准备了节日礼物。她们在卡片上写(画)满对妈妈的爱,然后用扭扭棒和彩色皱纹纸做出一朵朵漂亮的小花:一片一片的花瓣叠加起来,顶端再固定一颗亮亮的小珠子,小花就做好了。每一张卡片、每一枝花,都藏着孩子们最真的心意。相信妈妈们收到这份惊喜后就像一个孩子说的那样:我妈妈一定会高兴得哭出来。明天我们要去世纪公园”猎熊“啦(当然,这是一场有趣的游戏哦)!请大家早点到校,我们9点准时出发。活动包括公园野餐和“猎熊“游戏,别忘了带上雨鞋。另外,明天体育课有测评,最好穿偏运动的校服来校,这样既方便测评,去公园活动也更自在。@所有人 Daily Menu Moments
Hello everyone, Today was our dress rehearsal for the upcoming End of Year Show. Thank you to those of you who brought your children’s costumes as requested. Hopefully, next time we can have everyone present and in costume ready to perform. The rehearsal took up most of the morning. During the afternoon, the children reviewed Unit 3 & 4 phonics sounds by identifying words beginning with specific letters, identifying missing letters from simple CVC words and spelling simple words from a selection of available letters. Additionally, the reviewed the names and properties of some simple 2D shapes in Chinese class. They identified examples of shapes in the environment and made their own shapes using straws. The children also used some time to participate in continuous provision (self-led learning) by exploring a number of materials related to the current topic (insects).今天的中文数学课上,我们首先一起回顾了圆形、三角形、正方形等常规平面图形以及它们各自的特点,帮孩子们理清了已有的形状认知。随后,课程重点转向半圆和梯形这两个新图形。借助生活中常见的例子——比如切开的西瓜、滑梯的面、梯子或房顶的形状,孩子们很快就把半圆和梯形和日常事物联系了起来,轻松记住了它们的样子。最孩子们还试着用吸管积木拼搭梯形,这样一来,他们不仅能认出这两个图形,还能用积木再现出来,进一步加深对图形特征的理解。 Daily Menu Moments

Hello everyone, In today’s PBL lesson, the children learned about the characteristic of insects. They discovered that all insects consist of 3 body parts (head, thorax, abdomen), 2 antenna, 6 legs and an exoskeleton. After being taught about these characteristics and labelling the body parts of an insect, the children carried out a sorting exercise when they looked at an animal’s anatomy and decided if it was an insect or not. In phonics, the children reviewed the high-frequency words taught and were introduced to the next word, ‘do.’ We began by singing the song, “Do You Like Broccoli Ice Cream.” Then, they listened to the story From Head to Toe and carried out the actions whilst repeating the phrase, “I can do it.” The children asked each other question such as “do you like pizza?” and “do you want juice?” Answering with the phrase, “yes, I do” or, “no, I don’t.” In Chinese class, the children learned about ants. Once again they learned about the anatomy of an ant. The children demonstrated their understanding by making a playdough ant consisting of 3 body parts, 2 antenna and 6 legs. 今天的中文PBL课上,我们一起走进了蚂蚁的小小世界。孩子们首先回忆了上周在公园里和蚂蚁的偶遇:有的孩子说在树干上发现了蚂蚁;有的孩子说拿起一块石头,看到底下有好多好多蚂蚁在跑;还有的孩子在树叶上看到蚂蚁,伸手去抓却扑了个空。在边回忆边叙述中,我们了解了蚂蚁喜欢住在哪儿、爱去哪里玩。接着,跟着书本,好多让人惊讶的秘密被揭开了——原来小蚂蚁竟然会结茧,再从蛹里钻出来;蚂蚁宝宝全是蚂蚁妈妈带大的;它们的家叫做“蚁巢”,冬天全家就缩在巢里暖暖和和地过冬;蚂蚁最爱甜甜的东西,而它们的触角不光好看,还能用来闻味道呢!孩子们听得眼睛都亮了。认识了蚂蚁的身体结构—–头、胸、腹三部分,六条腿,两根触角之后,大家就动手啦。超轻粘土、火柴棍、扭扭棒在手里变来变去,一只只神气的小蚂蚁就这样诞生了。我们不光用眼睛看、用脑子想,还用手捏出了属于自己的蚂蚁伙伴,真是太有意思了!
