Hello everyone,
In today’s PBL lesson, the children listened to the story The Scribble Stones. A story about a little stone who learns that true purpose comes from embracing creativity and using your unique gifts to bring joy to others. Once the children had listened to the story, we discussed the events contained within it. The children also began their own Scribble Stone related craft.
In phonics, the children reviewed the high-frequency words that they’ve been taught and they were introduced to a new word, ‘over.’ Then, the children reviewed several CVC words such as ‘see, jump, dog, hog and log,’ before group reading the story The Log. Following the story, the children answered questions about the content of the story and made their own sentences using some of the words that were used within the tale.
In STEM class, the children reviewed farms and fam animals. Using Lego, the children created their own farm buildings to house a variety of farm animal models.
In Chinese class, the children reviewed simple addition and numeral formation by completing an addition worksheet.
今日中文数学课上,孩子们围绕加法启蒙进行了巩固练习。课堂提供了两种形式的操作活动:一类是直接计算如“2+2”“4+3”等算式,孩子们可以凭心算快速作答,也可以借助数棒辅助理解数量合并的过程;另一组则结合一些情境图片,先观察画面写出对应的加法算式,再计算出结果,重点练习5以内数的组合。整节课孩子们在动手与思考中进一步认识加法的含义,部分孩子已经能脱离教具独立完成简单算式,学习兴趣浓厚。
