🌟 Our Second Day in Reception E! 🌟

We have had another wonderful day together as the children continue to settle into their new classroom, routines, and life as Reception students! 💛😊

🏫 Circle Time – Growing Our Independence

This morning during Circle Time, we talked in more depth about some of the differences between Nursery and Reception and what it means to be a little more independent now that we are getting bigger. 🌱✨

We discussed some of the things the children can already do by themselves and some of the important skills we still need to practise. In particular, we talked about learning to independently fasten and unfasten our backpacks 🎒, put on and take off our shoes 👟, and take our water bottles out of our bags and put them back again 💧.

These may seem like small things, but becoming confident with these everyday routines is an important part of growing in independence during Reception. We will continue encouraging and supporting the children as they practise doing more and more for themselves. 💪🌟

🔤 Phonics

In Phonics, we continued reviewing our single-letter sounds. We sang a fun phonics song that took us through the alphabet, practising each letter, the sound it makes, and a word that uses that sound. 🎵🔡🗣

We then read Stop the Spotty Dog 🐶📖, which gave us lots of opportunities to hear and recognise words containing the /o/ sound. The children really enjoyed the story and had some fantastic ideas to share about the spotty dog and all of his rather naughty behaviour! 🐕😂

💛 Another Step into Reception

It has been lovely watching the children explore their classroom, interact with their new teachers, and become more comfortable with the school environment and our new routines. 🏫📚

Yesterday they took their first step into Reception, and today they have taken their second with wonderful confidence. We are very proud of how well they are settling in and can’t wait to see that confidence continue to grow over the coming days and weeks. 🌱💛

It’s been another fun-filled day in Reception E. Have a lovely evening, and we’ll see everyone tomorrow! 🌈🌟
