It was lovely to learn more about what everyone got up to before joining Reception E, and a wonderful opportunity for the children to practise speaking in front of the class and listening to their friends. 🗣👂💛 🌱 Our Settling-In Period is Complete! Over the past two weeks, our main focus has been helping the children become comfortable and confident in their new environment. They have been getting to know their classroom, teachers, friends and routines, while beginning to develop the independence expected of them as Reception students. 🏫🎒 They have done so well, and we are incredibly proud of the confidence they have shown as they have taken these first steps into Reception. 🌟👏 Next week, we officially begin our Reception curriculum with Unit 1: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind! 🍎🧠💪 We have lots of exciting learning and activities ahead and can’t wait to get started! Have a wonderful and well-deserved weekend, everyone! Daily CommunicationDate: 9/9/2026Team: Reception ETeachers: Teacher Sean, Teacher Betty, Teacher Niki, Teacher PanSubjects of the Day: Early Sound Systems, English PBLSpecialist Lesson: Vocal 🌟 Another Fun Day in Reception E! 🌟 We’ve had another lovely day together, filled with silly stories, phonics, creativity and lots of opportunities to practise our growing independence! 😊📚 🔤 Early Sound Systems (ESS) In ESS, we continued practising our phonics sounds with the song we have been learning. 🎵🔡 The children are becoming more and more confident joining in and remembering the sounds that go with each letter. We then read the story Did You Ever? 📖😂, which was filled with lots of very silly questions featuring /e/ words. The children thought the story was very funny and had great fun listening carefully and spotting the different /e/ words as we read. 👂🔎✨ 👟 English PBL – Pete the Cat This afternoon, we returned to Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes 🐱👟🎸. We talked about Pete’s experiences at school and compared them with our own, discussing how the children have been enjoying their first couple of weeks in Reception. 💛🏫 Then it was time to make some school shoes of our own! 👟🎨 The children decorated paper soles before carefully cutting them out and sticking a strip of paper across the top to transform them into their very own simple sandals. ✂🖍 For some of the children, using scissors independently still feels a little tricky, and a few were initially unsure about their cutting skills. However, everyone gave it a go, persevered with the challenge and did a fantastic job! 💪✂🌟 It was wonderful to see them building their confidence and being proud of what they had created. It’s been another great day in Reception E, and we continue to be so pleased with how confidently the children are settling into their new class. 💛🌈 Have a lovely evening! Daily Menu Moments
Daily CommunicationDate: 8/9/2026Team: Reception ETeachers: Teacher Sean, Teacher Betty, Teacher Niki, Teacher PanSubjects of…
Apologies, i forgot to hit send on this message before leaving last night Daily CommunicationDate: 7/9/2026Team: Reception ETeachers: Teacher Sean, Teacher Betty, Teacher Niki, Teacher PanSubjects of the Day: Early Sound Systems, English PBL 🌟 A Rockin’ Start to Week 2! 🌟 We’ve had a fantastic start to our second week in Reception E, with lots of phonics, stories, singing and creativity! 🎵📚😊 🔤 Early Sound Systems (ESS) In ESS, we continued reviewing our single-letter sounds using the phonics song we have been practising since the beginning of Reception. 🎵🔡 Everyone is becoming more familiar with it, and the children are getting more and more fluent and confident with their singing each day! 👏✨ We also read The Big Pink Pig 🐷📖, a silly story focusing on words containing the /i/ sound. The children loved hearing about the big pink pig and his gorilla and chicken friends 🦍🐔 and had lots of fun listening out for our focus sound throughout the story. 👟 English PBL – Rockin’ in Our School Shoes! In English PBL, we read Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes 🐱👟🎸. We especially loved the song Pete sings throughout the story — Reception E agreed that it was definitely rockin’! 🎶😎 Inspired by Pete, the children then designed and coloured their own rockin’ school shoes. 👟🖍 While decorating, we paid special attention to our pencil control, taking our time and carefully trying to stay inside the lines. The children showed lots of creativity while also practising these important fine-motor skills. 🎨✨ It’s been a great start to Week 2, and the children continue to grow in confidence and settle beautifully into Reception life. 💛🌱…

The children have completed their very first week in Reception, and what a fantastic week it has been! 💛😊 🔤 Early Sound Systems (ESS) In ESS, we continued practising the alphabet and the sounds each letter makes with our phonics sound and word association song. 🎵🔡 The children are already becoming much more familiar with the song and are doing a wonderful job joining in with the sounds and words. We then read the fun and silly story Fluffy Duck in the Tub 🦆🛁, which focuses on words containing the /u/ sound. The children really enjoyed the story and had lots of fun listening out for our focus sound! 👂📖✨ 👨👩👧👦 English PBL – Our Families This afternoon, we used the lovely family photographs that parents sent to us. Thank you so much for sharing them! 📸💕 After laminating the photographs to keep them safe, the children created their own beautiful frames to display them in. 🎨✨ Everyone was very proud to see their family photo inside their finished frame, and soon they will all be displayed together on our classroom wall as another special part of Reception E. 🏡💛 ✏ Writing Baseline Assessment We also completed our writing baseline assessment today. The children were given sentences containing all of the letters of the alphabet, in both capital and lowercase forms, giving us an opportunity to see their current handwriting and letter-formation skills at the very beginning of Reception. 🔠📝 The children worked very hard and did a fantastic job! This gives us a useful starting point as we begin developing their writing skills throughout the year. 🌱👏 💛 One Week Down! It has been wonderful watching the children take their first steps into Reception this week. They have explored their new classroom, met their teachers, begun learning our routines, shown us what they can already do, and started becoming our new Reception E family. 🌈 We are incredibly proud of how well they have settled in and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings! Have a wonderful and well-deserved weekend, everyone! …
Daily CommunicationDate: 2/9/2026Team: Reception ETeachers: Teacher Sean, Teacher Betty, Teacher Niki, Teacher PanSubjects of the Day: Circle Time, Early Sound SystemsSpecialist Lesson: Vocal 🌟 Our Second Day in Reception E! 🌟 We have had another wonderful day together as the children continue to settle into their new classroom, routines, and life as Reception students! 💛😊 🏫 Circle Time – Growing Our Independence This morning during Circle Time, we talked in more depth about some of the differences between Nursery and Reception and what it means to be a little more independent now that we are getting bigger. 🌱✨ We discussed some of the things the children can already do by themselves and some of the important skills we still need to practise. In particular, we talked about learning to independently fasten and unfasten our backpacks 🎒, put on and take off our shoes 👟, and take our water bottles out of our bags and put them back again 💧. These may seem like small things, but becoming confident with these everyday routines is an important part of growing in independence during Reception. We will continue encouraging and supporting the children as they practise doing more and more for themselves. 💪🌟 🔤 Phonics In Phonics, we continued reviewing our single-letter sounds. We sang a fun phonics song that took us through the alphabet, practising each letter, the sound it makes, and a word that uses that sound. 🎵🔡🗣 We then read Stop the Spotty Dog 🐶📖, which gave us lots of opportunities to hear and recognise words containing the /o/ sound. The children really enjoyed the story and had some fantastic ideas to share about the spotty dog and all of his rather naughty behaviour! 🐕😂 💛 Another Step into Reception It has been lovely watching the children explore their classroom, interact with their new teachers, and become more comfortable with the school environment and our new routines. 🏫📚 Yesterday they took their first step into Reception, and today they have taken their second with wonderful confidence. We are very proud of how well they are settling in and can’t wait to see that confidence continue to grow over the coming days and weeks. 🌱💛 It’s been another fun-filled day in Reception E. Have a lovely evening, and we’ll see everyone tomorrow!
