Hello everyone, In today’s lesson, the children learned about the world. We initially looked at a globe and identified the ocean, land, continents, countries and the location of Shanghai. We then looked at the difference between a globe and a map and how they both display the same world but in different formats. Using large stickers, we made out own map of the world. Hello everyone, In today’s lesson, the children learned about the weather. Specifically, the rain and the sun. We started off by singing the songs Rain Rain Go Away and Mr. Golden Sun. Hello everyone, In today’s lesson, the children learned the difference between sweet and bitter flavors. They all tasted cocoa nibs, dark chocolate and milk chocolate then told the rest of the class whether they liked or disliked each product. We then widened the scope of foods that fall under bitter or sweet flavors including items such as grapefruit, broccoli, coffee, cake and ice cream. The children played a short game where they demonstrated if they liked a food type or not by jumping in the direction of their preference. Finally, the children carried out a sorting activity by categorizing a number of foods under bitter / sweet categories. 亲爱的家长朋友们，下午好！ 今天孩子们开启了可可豆的“神奇变身之旅”，我们一起探索了可可豆从农场到工厂的初加工全过程。活动开始，老师通过提问帮助孩子回顾旧知，再抛出“新鲜可可豆可以直接做巧克力吗”的新问题，带着好奇心，孩子们进一步了解了可可豆初加工的流程，直观了解到新鲜可可豆需要经过发酵→晾晒→烘干→烘焙→去壳→研磨六个步骤，才能变成制作巧克力的基础原料——可可液块。 随后是实物观察环节，老师将加工后得到的可可粉和可可脂分别展示给孩子们看，引导孩子们轮流对比观察。孩子们发现可可粉是棕色的粉末状，闻起来有浓郁的香气；而可可脂是淡黄色的固体，摸起来滑滑的。通过看、闻、摸的实物对比，孩子们直观感受到“一种食物可以变出不同形态”，观察辨别能力也得到了锻炼。 最令孩子们期待的当然是动手体验环节啦！孩子们帮助老师一起将可可粉倒入容器中，加入热水搅拌，最后加入牛奶。美味的牛奶热巧克力就制作完成啦！捧着自己参与制作的热饮，孩子们小心品尝，暖意融融，脸上满是成就感。我们还一起自制了不同形状的牛奶巧克力，孩子们成就满满。 最后，我们一起欣赏了绘本《兔先生的巧克力工厂》。 回家后，不妨和孩子聊聊：今天学到的六个加工步骤还记得吗？发酵、晾晒、烘干、烘焙、去壳、研磨——看看孩子能说出几个。也可以打开家里的巧克力包装，和孩子一起找找配料表里有没有“可可粉”或“可可脂”的身影哦！ 温馨提示：下周我们将有外出活动，请家长朋友们在外出活动单上签好名，下周一带回。谢谢大家的支持与配合！ 祝大家周末愉快~ Daily Menu Moments
亲爱的家长朋友们，下午好！在今天的“可可探索之旅”中，我们带着孩子围绕可可豆展开了一场融合自然、地理与感官体验的趣味学习。 🌱 一、感知植物生命周期，了解可可的生长奥秘孩子们通过图片和故事，了解了可可果从开花、结果到成熟采摘的完整生长过程，初步感知了“植物生命周期”的概念。他们知道了可可树是个“怕冷的小精灵”，最喜欢生活在温暖湿润的热带地区。课堂上，我们鼓励孩子尝试记住1-2个可可产地国家的名称，不少小朋友已经能说出“委内瑞拉”“厄瓜多尔”等名字啦！ 🌍 二、认识“赤道”，建立初步地理认知我们用了一个形象的比喻帮助孩子理解抽象概念：“地球像一颗圆圆的皮球，赤道就像系在皮球最胖处的一条彩色腰带。” 孩子们不仅认识了赤道的位置，还了解到赤道周围一年四季都暖暖的、热热的，正是这样独特的气候才让可可树得以茁壮成长。随后，每位孩子都尝试在简化版世界地图上用彩笔标识出赤道，动手动脑，兴趣盎然。 🔍 三、多感官探索，认识可可果的形态结构延续上节课的实物观察，今天我们再次切开可可果，让孩子们通过看（外观颜色与形状）、闻（特有气味）、切（内部结构） 等多种方式，近距离认识可可果的外壳、果肉和包裹在其中的可可豆。特别说明：我们只进行观察和闻嗅，未安排品尝环节，确保安全卫生。Hi, everyone! Today was a fantastic second day of our Summer Cacao Camp!🍫✨🍫✨ We spent circle time playing some question games and getting the student’s minds moving, as well as dancing and singing to one of our favourite songs! We covered the days of the week, the seasons, months of the year etc just to get everyone speaking this morning! We also had a wonderful music class with Teacher Happy where everyone had a cute umbrella and danced in the rain.🌷🌷☔☔ For our next lesson, we continued learning about where chocolate comes from – this lesson was titled ‘Big Tree, Funny Fruit’ as we learned all about cacao pods and how they grow on the cacao tree in the jungle. They require very hot weather to grow. We role played as little beans, pods and grew all the way up into big cacao trees! Then, we had a hunt through the classroom for our cacao pods to put onto our big tree. It was full of fun and laughter! Hi, everyone! ✨💕✨ Welcome to the first day of our Cacao Camp – where we’re learning all about chocolate and how it comes from the trees all the way to the chocolate bars in our shops! We want to explore how it is made, where it comes from and how it became one of everyone’s favourite treats!🍫🌱🍫🌱 For our lesson today, the focus was ‘Where does chocolate come from?’🍫🍫🍫 We spent some time learning that chocolate comes from a tree – a cocoa tree, that grows cocoa pods. Inside the cocoa pods, there are plenty of cocoa beans and from those beans we are able to make chocolate! We did some of the vocabulary together and also played a quick-fire number game to reveal each of our special vocab words! 🌷🌷🌷 After, we got to hold and smell some of the cocoa beans. Unlike chocolate, they are hard and they don’t smell very much like our favourite treat. With the sensory experience, we introduced our magic bag and had a hunt for some cocoa beans. We separated them into piles – cocoa beans and not cocoa beans. The boys and girls were so good using their hands and feeling for the shape and the texture of the beans!🌱🌱🌱 That is all for today, everyone. Hello everyone, In today’s PBL lesson, the children continued with their summer theme and made their own craft ice creams using pre-cut card, lollipop sticks and stickers. In phonics, the children undertook guided reading and read the book The Tub . Following the reading they answered several simple questions about the story. In STEM class, the children took part in a colourful soap bubble activity. Using simple materials, they created and explored bubbles of different sizes, enjoying a fun end-of-year STEM experience with their classmates. Tomorrow, there will be a class photograph taken to celebrate the end of the school year. Please send your children to school wearing their school uniforms. Many thanks in advance. Finally, we celebrated Bella Wu’s and Ellie’s 4th birthday today. Please join us in wishing them a very happy birthday.
