In today’s PBL lesson, the children reviewed the book Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea. The children retold the story by identifying the sequence of events contained within the story and took turns in rereading extracts from the book the rest of the class.
In phonics, the children learned the digraph ‘sh.’ They identified the digraph from within a cluster of other digraphs, learned vocabulary containing the digraph and used the digraph’s sound to segment and blend this week’s words (ship, shop, shed, fish& shell).
In STEM class, the children continued to learn about air and its importance. They learned about the parts of a kite, the differences between several types of kites and how they fly. The, children learned about safety when flying a kite before decorating their own kites and going outside to try and fly them.
In Chinese class, the children learned the concept of odd and even numbers. By cultivating their observational skills through play, the children went on to use a worksheet to identify odd and even quantities.
今天中文数学课上孩子们在游戏中认识单数和双数。课堂上，老师随机抽取数字卡片邀请相应数量的幼儿上台，伴随音乐律动，孩子们在音乐停止时寻找伙伴两两拥抱。通过这种直观的体验，孩子们生动地理解了双数是总能两个两个配对成功、没有落单的数字，而单数则是最后总会剩下一个找不到朋友的数字，从而轻松记住了1、3、5、7、9是单数，2、4、6、8是双数。在随后的巩固环节，孩子们完成了纸面作业，根据物品数量判断单双数并进行打勾（双数）或打叉（单数）的标记。大家巧妙地将游戏中的经验迁移到了解题中，通过给物品“找朋友”的方法——如果都有朋友就打勾，有落单的就打叉，顺利完成了练习。
