In today’s PBL lesson, the children again reviewed the book Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea. They talked about the favorite parts of the story, told about the stories sequence of events and retold parts of the story to the class.
In phonics, the children learned another high-frequency word, “was.’ They learned to use the word when talking about past events and contrasted its use with the word, ‘is.’ The children saw several examples and repeated sentences such as, “It is a frog. It was a caterpillar.” They also placed a toy whale into a shape and used sentences such as, “It is in the square. It was in the circle.”
In Chinese class, the children reviewed the months of the year and talked about which month is their favorite and why.
今天中文数学课上，孩子们延续了晨圈活动中对月份的学习，重点感受了月份的循环规律、每个月的典型特征以及藏在其中的节日等。孩子们讨论得很热烈，最后每个人都选出了自己最喜欢的月份，还给出了可爱的理由——有人喜欢二月因为二月是一个充满了爱的月份，有人喜欢四月可以去户外野餐。有趣的是，好多孩子都不约而同地选了八月，原因是“可以去海边挖沙”“能吃冰激凌”“还能自己做冰激凌”“有甜甜的西瓜汁”……看来夏天的诱惑力真的很大。孩子们在分享中把月份和生活经验紧紧连在了一起，数学课也因此变得更有温度了！
