Hello everyone,

This morning, we began our new unit of learning, entitled My City. The children were shown a number of landmarks from around the city and we told if we had visited each one. Then, the children listened to the LUC story My City Shanghai. Throughout the story, we would refer back to the landmarks we had discussed earlier. Following the story, the children identified flash cards depicting some of the details contained within the story.

In STEM class, the children learned about the arctic environment and animals that live there. Using sensory materials, the children created their own arctic habitat including icebergs and arctic animals.

In phonics, the children learned the letter Cc. They identified the letter in upper and lowercase, learned vocabulary that begins with the letter c and used the sounds they’ve learned so far to blend simple CVC words.

In Chinese class, the children learned about simple 2D shapes such as circle, triangle, square etc. The children learned about the characteristics of these shapes and played a shape hunting game where they located appropriate shapes based upon clues about the characteristics of particular shapes.
