Hello everyone,
In today’s PBL lesson, the children focused on sequencing the events of a story. To begin with we discussed what happened at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the stories The Gingerbread Man and The Runaway Pancake. Then, the children used sequencing cards to retell each story. Once the stories were complete, we compared and contrasted the events in each.
In phonics, the children continued to learn about the letter Jj with a focus on making jelly. The children helped to make jelly by mixing a jelly powder with water, whisking it and pouring it into moulds. The children observed how the state of the jelly changed from a powder like substance, to water to the final jelly product. The discovered the texture, scent and taste of the jelly as we created small jelly animals.
In Chinese class, the children listened to the story Lucky Money and learned about the Lunar Festival’s custom of the elderly giving red envelopes (Hong Bao0 to the younger generation. They began to understand that this is an expression of love and how they can show gratitude for receiving the gift.
