In today’s PBL lesson, the children continued to learn about insects and bugs. They observed a number of insects and compared and contrasted them. Then, the children learned about where we can find insects. They carried out a sorting exercise identifying where insects live and where they do not live.
In phonics, the children learned the digraph, “ng.’ They identified the digraph from within a cluster of others and practiced blending unfamiliar words containing the sound.
In STEM class, the children continued to learn about light and shadows. They worked in pairs to play an animal guessing game based upon the shadow of a creature being displayed behind a light box.
In Chinese class, the children reviewed numbers 1 to 30 and created a calendar by filling in missing numerals from a calendar month.
今天的中文数学课上,我们一起完成了4月日历,重点帮助孩子们巩固30以内的数序和填数能力。我们首先数了数4月一共有多少天,然后从1到30轮流接龙数数——每个孩子都要认真听前一个伙伴说的数字,专注力可一点都不能松懈呢。接着,每个小朋友拿到一张有空缺的4月日历,她们需要把缺失的数字补全;如果暂时还不太会完整书写,也可以选择数字贴纸来粘贴。通过练习,孩子们不仅更清楚地理解了30以内数字的顺序和位置,也在补空缺的过程中练习了观察与推理,为今后的数学学习打下了踏实的数感基础。
