Hello everybody,
In today’s PBL lesson, the children took a dive into the ocean to discover the underwater environment. They discovered what sort of animals can be found in the oceans and seas and the types of habitats that these creatures thrive in. As a large group, the children created their own ocean sensory tray by adding coral, rocks, water and ocean creatures into a sensory container.
In phonics, the children reviewed the high-frequency words learned over past weeks and were introduced to a new word, ‘we.’ They learned to use the word we when talking about oneself and another person or people. The children got into small groups to find a type of food that each member of the group likes and created sentences such as, “We like ice cream.”
In Chinese class, the children continued to practice their counting skills by counting out tang yuan and placing appropriate quantities on paper plates with the corresponding numeral. Additionally, some children counted out bead and placed them onto pipe cleaners.
今天的中文数学课堂变成了热热闹闹的“汤圆店”。有的小朋友当老板,有的当顾客,大家围在一起买汤圆、数汤圆。“老板,我要14个!”“给我来15个!”老板们手忙脚乱地数着碗里的“汤圆”,一边数一边念叨,生怕数错了——给少了顾客不答应,给多了自己又亏本,忙得满头大汗。在买买卖卖中,大家把点数练得可熟练了。
另一边,还有一群小朋友在安静地做手工:给数字宝宝们串珠子尾巴。数字是16,就得在扭扭棒上穿16颗珠子;数字是19,就得穿19颗。手上一边穿,嘴里一边数,一串串彩色的珠子串好了,数字宝宝们也都有了一条漂亮的尾巴。真是一堂好玩、有滋有味的数学课!
