Hello everybody,

In today’s PBL lesson, the children learned about the features of a book such as front cover, back cover and page numbers. They learned to located information using the page numbers of a book. Additionally, the children listened to an AI generated version of the story that they made on Friday. The AI version added additional text and imagery to the story. Following the reading, the children began to make their own front and back covers for the storybook.

In phonics, the children learned the letter Jj. They identified the letter in upper and lowercase, learned vocabulary beginning with letter (jam, juice, jump) and used the letter’s sound to decode new, unfamiliar words (jam, jet, jog, jacket).

In STEM class, the children continued to learn about farms. They reviewed why a farm needs fencing and what kind of animals live and barns. Today, the children learned about ponds and which animals can be found there. Each of the children made their own small pond using playdough and added it to their model farms.

In Chinese class, the children continued to learn about the Lunar Festival and its customs. Today they listened to the story Reunion and talked about being together with family during the holiday and sharing a feast together.

今天的中文课真温暖呀!我们跟着绘本故事《团圆》,一起走进了毛毛家的春节。在故事里,我们看到了红红的福字、甜甜的汤圆、热闹的舞龙——原来这些都是过年的样子呢;我们也悄悄发现了毛毛爸爸沉默的爱:他修好家里的电灯,给毛毛买新帽子,把好运硬币轻轻包进汤圆里。最让人感动的是,毛毛最后把那枚闪闪发亮的硬币送给出远门的爸爸,就像把心里的爱和祝福都装了进去。我们还认识了汉字“团、圆”。团是紧紧聚在一起,圆是完整又美满,当它们手拉手变成“团圆”,团圆是是全家围坐的笑脸,是哪怕暂时分开也彼此牵挂的心。愿每个小朋友的家总能拥有这样暖暖亮亮的团圆光。
绘本讲完了,但故事里的温情会像那枚好运硬币一样,亮晶晶地留在我们心里。
