Hello everyone,

As we continue onwards with our Literacy Month, this week’s focus is the classic tale The Little Red Hen. In today’s PBL class, we read the story and established who the characters were in the story, where the setting of the story takes place and what happens at the start, in the middle and at the end of the book. We retold the story by using sequencing cards, looked at the moral of the story and discussed what the children would’ve done in the Little Red Hen’s situation and how they help others in their daily lives.

In today’s STEM class, the children began to learn about farm animals. They observed the different kinds of animals that can typically be found on a farm and built their own farms using a variety of materials, separating the species of animals on their farms with fences.

In phonics, the children learned the letter Ll and the digraph ll. They identified the letter Ll in upper and lowercase and learned vocabulary beginning with or containing the letter Ll or the digraph ll.

In Chinese class, the children began to learn about the Lunar New Year. They listened to the story of Nian and learned about the traditional customers associated with the festival such as wearing red clothing, hanging couplets, setting off firecrackers and family reunion meals.
